IMPOWER (Orlando, FL)
September 24th, 2021
IMPOWER provides mental health, substance misuse and child well-being services that empower the lives of those in need through the provision of personal attention, counseling, assistance and inspiration that helps them reach their full potential and achieve individual success.
IMPOWER is a community partner, leader and expert that responds to needs of disadvantaged community youth by providing them with care and services. One particularly high demand service is the need for laundry access at the organization’s two main campuses. In 2020, nearly 300 youth were taken care of between the two campuses.
One campus, known as The Grove is a substance misuse treatment for youth—the center’s equipment had been aging and in need of upgrading for quite some time. A similar situation was found at IMPOWER’s second campus The Village, which provides transitional housing in support of homeless youth. Across the entire organization, utilities and machinery such as washers and dryers are operated almost solely on philanthropic support. Through donations led by the CSC ServiceWorks Orlando branch, updated washer and dryers now give homeless youth residing at The Grove and The Village the means to wash their belongings, as well as gives the staff equipment needed to keep the programs operating cleanly.
