Seneca Family of Agencies (Oakland, CA)
June 28th, 2021
Seneca Family of Agencies was founded with a simple but powerful mission to help children and families through the most difficult times of their lives. They provide a broad continuum of permanency, mental health, education, and juvenile justice services, which today reach over 18,000 youth and families throughout California and Washington State each year.
Seneca Family of Agencies has a number of locations with varying laundry needs that allow them to serve children and families in the Greater Bay Area, from North Bay to South Bay. One location in particular, James Baldwin Academy, serves about 50 high school students who find themselves without proper mental and academic support in a typical school setting.
At James Baldwin Academy, Seneca provides regular academic services as well as mental health counseling for our students. The donated laundry equipment helps support all 50 high school students, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, to promote a clean and safe environment for students and staff by washing face masks, and other necessary cloths, to keep our spaces sanitary.
Another location within Seneca’s network of centers serves as the main campus for their administrative staff and provides multiple programs for mental health services, community services, family finding, foster services, etc. This site will also help shelter immigrant children, thus new laundry equipment will help the Seneca team keep up with provisions for clean bedding, clothing, and any other cloths.
Providing sanitary supplies to clients is an incredibly important priority of this organization, especially in the face of this COVID-19 Pandemic and the team directly benefits from this laundry donation every day.
